Acupuncture, or acupressure if done without needles, is a 5,000 year old form of medicine from China.
Since 2004, the World Health Organization has recognized nearly 100 symptoms and diseases that have been treated successfully with acupuncture.
Simply stated, acupuncture increases circulation in the body. By activating the nervous system in very specific ways, it helps to relieve pain, move out toxins on a cellular level, and relax & nourish the body, mind, and spirit.
Many things on a daily basis can interrupt the free flow of energy through the body, whether it’s a high stress deadline, an injury, accumulated toxins, or emotional challenges. In opening circulation, we are able to restore balance to the body.
Our bodies know inherently how to heal themselves. When we are in balance, we are able to exist in health.
Acupuncture needles are very thin, sterile, and single-use. This means there is no risk of cross-infection with acupuncture. Also, did you know – 40 acupuncture needles can fit inside the tip of one standard hypodermic needle?
Some people are nervous about needles. One of the things that I love about being both a shiatsu practitioner and an acupuncturist is that I can blend the two together in ways that allow for the depth and power of an acupuncture treatment without using the needles.
